An array of Bollywood and Pakistani stars will descend upon Dubai on May 28 for a celebrity cricket match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Indian team will be led by Bollywood heavy-weight Salman Khan while the Pakistani side will be captained by fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.
“It’s great to see actors including Riteish Deshmukh, Sharman Joshi, Dino Morea, Ali Zafar and Humayun Saeed extending their support for a charitable cause Being Human,” said Sohail Khan at a press conference in Dubai on Thursday. The proceeds from the match will go towards Salman Khan's charity Being Human.
“It's wonderful that people are beginning to cross borders and bridge gaps," said Khan. On a lighter note, he added that it was unfair that the Pakistan team had the backing of one of the world's fastest bowlers Akhtar captaining them.
"It's going to be a bit unfair. The balance may be missing. I wonder if we will even see Mr Rawalpindi's ball coming our way. For all you know, we may even play a mixed game," quipped Khan. This announcement was also backed by renowned Pakistani actor and director Javed Sheikh.
"We as Pakistanis will extend support to such causes. The most difficult thing in today's world is to be human," said Sheikh. The tickets for the game, supported by Dubai Autism Centre and Grand Midwest, is available at Dh35, Dh50, Dh175 and Dh500.
