Pop singer Stephen Gately has died while on holiday in Majorca, according to media reports in the UK.

The 33-year-old Boyzone star, who also ventured into world of theatre, TV and radio, was found dead on the Spanish island on Saturday.

Other members of the multi-million selling boyband are believed to be flying out to the island on Sunday.

The band’s manager, and judge on the hit TV series X Factor, told the News of the World newspaper he "We're all absolutely devastated. I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet.

"I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man."

Fellow Boyzone star Shane Lynch also told the newspaper: "Me and the boys are flying out in the morning. We just need to get over to where he's passed and work out what we need to do."

Gately came out ten years ago, and leaves a husband Andrew Cowles, who he married in a civil union in March, 2006.
