What's in a name?
For a person known for his reclusive nature, Aamir Khan has a way of creating news. This time it's the name of the dog that is attracting attention. Well, with a name like Shah Rukh it was bound to raise a few eyebrows. Aamir, however, denies that he has anything to do with it. He wrote on his blog, "Shah Rukh is the dog that belongs to one of the caretakers of our house. When I bought the house the caretakers were part of the deal. "Apparently, Shah Rukh, the actor, shot a commercial in this house a few years ago. That very day, the caretakers bought a pup and named him Shah Rukh."
Buy one, get one free?
With Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan, the ‘Buy one ... get one free' advertising strategy seems to be popular. According to sources, Ash wants to do more projects with her husband Abhishek. The two have just agreed to do a film with Mani Ratnam which will be their second with the filmmaker, and another with Rajiv Menon, the cinematographer who directed Kajol in Sapnay and Ash and Tabu in the Tamil film Kandukondain Kandukondain. Rajiv confirmed the news from Chennai saying, "I've worked with them before. They are professionals. That's why I've signed them." Looks like the two are hell bent on proving that they can be a hit pair on-screen as well.
Vidya's and Madhavan's great Chemistry
Everybody is gushing about the chemistry that Madhavan and Vidya Balan share in an ad for Airtel, a mobile phone service provider. The secret, it seems, is Madhavan's two-year-old son Vedant who loves Vidya so much that she has become a close friend of Madhavan and his wife Sarita. "Both of us had cameos in Guru. People still talk about our romantic scene in the rain (including a kiss). And now the Airtel ads. It's unbelievable how much chemistry people have seen between us in those few seconds. I always say it's the moments that make a romance," says Vidya. We hope she is talking of her on-screen chemistry.
Priyanka's new role
We now know why Priyanka Chopra is the media's darling. The story goes thus: when word got around that Vishal Bharadwaj planned to make a movie titled Kaminay (an expletive in Hindi), many eyebrows shot up. Though Bharadjwaj refused to comment on the title or the details of the film, leading lady Priyanka Chopra was more forthcoming. "Vishal's film certainly has an interesting title. However, I cannot reveal much. But just like the title, the film bends all the rules," she said, adding, "We will start shooting from August, right after I complete the promotion of Love Story 2050."Trust Priyanka to come to a scribe's rescue.
Boney's next film titled 'It's my life'
Boney Kapoor has finally found a name for his next production: It's My Life. The film, directed by Anees Bazmi, has Harman Baweja and Genelia D'Souza in the lead. Says Harman, "That's the name Anees sir has chosen. It may change. But we all like it. It's about a rich, subdued boy who's petrified of his girlfriend's father (Nana Patekar) and stands for hours outside her house gathering the courage to face him. It's all about how the boy finally takes charge of his life." Original script, ain't it?
IFFA beckons Big B and RGV
Almost six months into the year, the IFFA awards, the last of the award ceremonies for Bollywood, will take place on June 6. To be held in Bangkok, it will have the Bachchan clan in full strength as Amitabh is the brand ambassador. "One sees an integration of communities in a cinema hall. We do not bother to see who is sitting beside us in the darkness of a cinema hall. We are all one, enjoying and experiencing different kinds of emotions unfolding on the screen," Bachchan said. The function, which will last a couple of days, will have Ram Gopal Varma premiering Sarkar Raj, a Bachchan family starrer. Considering that RGV has been losing credibility as a filmmaker as his recent films have been total duds, he has a lot riding on this one.
