Avril Lavigne has reportedly recorded a cover of one her fiance’s best-known songs.

Two months after she announced her engagement to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger, Lavigne has made a version of How You Remind Me for the soundtrack of an upcoming anime movie.

Lavigne will offer her track to One Piece Film Z, an upcoming adaptation of the manga series One Piece. Created by Eiichiro Oda in 1997, it is the bestselling manga series of all time: its 67 volumes of comics have sold around 300 million copies, and there have been 11 movie adaptations so far.

According to Anime News Network (via NME), Eiichiro Oda wrote personally to Lavigne after he heard her How You Remind Me cover.

He was so smitten with the rendition that he invited her to contribute a second song to the One Piece Film Z soundtrack — a cover of Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation.

First released in 2001, How You Remind Me was Nickelback’s breakout single; it reached No 4 on the UK charts and became US radio’s most-played song of the 2000s.

Kroeger was the track’s principal songwriter. The Nickelback frontman is now reportedly working with Lavigne on new material; they have recorded a duet for her upcoming fifth album, due in the next year.
