Bollywood’s man-of-the-moment Arjun Kapoor is not big on votes of thanks. But how do we know this?

Minutes before receiving an award in Dubai on Wednesday, we met up with the Ishaqzaade star.

“I don’t know what I am going to say on stage but it’s wonderful to be appreciated. I never expected Ishaqzaade to be such a rage,” said Kapoor in an exclusive interaction with tabloid! at his suite in Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel. He was later presented the PowerBrands Rising Stars award.

The son of legendary producer Boney Kapoor (he’s actress Sonam Kapoor’s cousin) made his Bollywood debut this May in the unconventional rural romance Ishaqzaade. Kapoor played an uncouth small-town rake, Parma, who had no qualms about deceiving his lover, played by another popular Bollywood youngsert, Parineeti Chopra (cousin of Priyanka).

“It’s wonderful to be appreciated. Awards season is yet to begin, but this is a good start,” said Kapoor, who was bestowed the award at a ceremony in the Godolphin ballroom at the same hotel.

He wasn’t alone. Actors Arjun Rampal -- who will soon be in seen in Heroine -- and Ranveer Singh of Band Baaja Baarat fame were honoured the same night.

PowerBrands Rising Stars 2012-2013, a travelling awards show, aims to decorate Indians who have done exceptionally well in industries including media and brand management.

“Ranveer Singh in a short span of time has achieved a dynamic aura ... Arjun Kapoor is a movie old and yet he has managed to surprise and enthrall all. He has a zeal to excel so that’s why they were a perfect choice of Rising Indian young achievers from Bollywood,” said Deepak Kaistha, CEO of Planman Media, the company behind the PowerBrands Rising Stars event.

At the other end of the town, many were witness to another brand of Bollywood action. Hotties Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were busy at work interacting with their fans gathered at the Arabian Centre to promote their next film Barfi. A stark contrast to the invites-only, black-tie PowerBrands Awards night, the Ranbir Kapoor interaction was an informal affair.
