Celebrities from across the world reacted to the news of Osama Bin Laden's death, many of them taking to Twitter to express their views. 

While many American stars were caught up in a nationalistic fervor, singing praises for President Barack Obama, others took on a more cautionary tone. 

Lady Gaga, one of the most followed celebrities on the social networking site, with over nine million follwers, tweeted: "What a historical moment in the fight against hatred."

Singer songwriter Demi Lavato went patriotic: "USA I love my country.. We made history today.... Wow..... #isupportthetroups... I don't care who disagrees, I support the troops of the United States of America.... GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!" 

Pop star Katy Perry's patriotic but profanity-laced tweets were hash-tagged with the phrase ‘necessaryusageoftheFbombday'. She added later: "I am releaved in some ways, but have a feeling of uncertainty now." (Sic).

 Lindsay Lohan's surprisingly short tweet just said: "Go USA!". 

Joel Madden, singer of rock band Good Charlotte addressed the US president: "Yo @BarrackObama you should do a little song at This news conference to celebrate! What do u say sir? give the people a treat!" 

Hollywood actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote: "I'm proud of our men and women in uniform. Wherever you are, take a minute to say thank you to one of the brave heroes who serve our country." 

Comedian Steve Martin chose a more dispassionate tone: "Slow news day," he tweeted. 

Filmmaker Michael Moore, whose controversial 2004 film Fahrenheit 9/11 was severely critical of President George W Bush, tweeted from Ground Zero: "I'm in New York tonight, no one's going 2 bed. It's 1am. There's so much happening Ground Zero packed so many remembering that horrible day." 

Over in Bollywood, upcoming star Shruti Hassan, south Indian star Kamal Hassan's daughter was more cautionary: "I'm slightly perturbed by the crazy celebration of a death,no matter whos it is.celebrating peace and love is what truly counts." 

Her colleague Dino Morea, the model-turned-actor said: "Strange feeling Osama still lurking somewhere, and planning something bigger." 

Director Ram Gopal Varma, known for his films about India's underworld gangs, tweeted: "Whatever the future of terrorism is after the death of osama I am right now so very very very happy fr America..3000 CHEERS!!!" 

Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar, who starred in last year's hit Bollywood comedy Tere Bin Laden (Without you Laden), about a reporter who creates a fake Osama Bin Laden video in his bid to migrate to the US, simply tweeted the name of the film. 

Hindi film critic Taran Adharsh added soon after: "Wanna watch the immensely likable film ‘Tere Bin Laden' all over again." 

Meanwhile, a spoof twitter account called @ghostosama had already amassed 25,000 followers within four hours of going live.
