Adele isn’t just music royalty, the singer has just become a Member of the Order of the British Empire, a division of chivalry in the United Kingdom.

The Rolling in the Deep singer, who earned a Golden Globe and an Oscar for the song Skyfall and several Grammys for her studio albums, was awarded the MBE for services to music at Buckingham Palace in London on Thursday by Prince Charles himself.

MBE is a moniker that will now be added to her name: Adele Adkins MBE. Fancy, huh?

Singer-songwriter P.J. Harvey, broadcaster Aled Jones and author Joanne Harris were also awarded with MBEs, according to the UK’s Mirror.

“It was an honour to be recognised and a very proud moment to be awarded alongside such wonderful and inspirational people. Very posh indeed,” the singer said in a statement via the UK news site.

Adele, 25, who grew up in Tottenham, has kept a low profile since last year’s award season and the birth of her son Angelo with boyfriend Simon Konecki.

The nine-time Grammy winner been an international star since releasing her debut album, 19, in 2008. Her follow-up album, 21, released in 2011, sold 10.8 million copies in the US alone, Pop & Hiss reported. Despite suffering throat problems that prevented her from singing two years ago, in 2012, the singer won six Grammys for 21.

Clad in a Stella McCartney tea dress and dark eye veil, the songstress was introduced in the palace ballroom Thursday as Miss Adele Adkins and curtsied before standing in front of Prince Charles, according to footage obtained by the Telegraph newspaper.

Adele chatted with the first in line to the British throne, who pinned the award and continued to speak with the singer before shaking her hand. Following their exchange, the singer stepped back, curtsied again and stepped away.

Clarence House, which runs the royals’ official Twitter account, also tweeted a photo of Adele and the Prince of Wales at the event.

The award is usually presented by the queen, but Queen Elizabeth II, 87, was occupied preparing for her holiday festivities at her country home, People reported.

Though Adele did not speak with reporters following the event, she did pose for photographers as she held the encased award to her face and showed off her dark blue manicure, which appeared to be embellished with little crowns for the occasion.

Perfectly adorable.
