Actor Abhishek Bachchan said on Monday that while his wife Aishwarya Rai is a beautiful woman, he has never whistled at her but courted her through his gestures, emotions, and words.
“I am used to people whistling at my wife... see my wife then you will know why I am saying this. I have never whistled at her to woo her... I don’t think its the right thing to do. I courted her through my gestures, emotions and words,” said Bachchan.
Interjecting, Rai said: “This is why I am married to him.”
Bachchan, who has been married to Rai for seven years now, says she is a wonderful cook.
“She cooks really well... in fact she makes good deserts. When we were newly-married, there is a Bengali custom where the girl has to make some sweet and she prepared halwa which was too good. More than anything else, it is the emotion and love you cook with that matters.”
The celebrity couple were together to promote their new tie-up with the TTK Prestige range of kitchen appliances.
“The essence of the campaign truly reflects Abhishek and me, as we are contemproary in our outlook yet rooted in tradition,” said Rai.
The celebrity couple has also shot an ad campaign for the brand.
“The idea was to keep it real and nothing should look fake. We have tried to keep it very regular and normal,” said Rai.
As for their next film together, Bachchan said it was too early to comment.
They are due to appear in Happy Anniversary. “[Director] Prahlad Kakkar is an old friend of Aishwarya and I know him through her.... we have met him and we have the basic idea about the story. We have not read the script yet. It is too premature to say anything about Happy Anniversary. I can’t confirm anything right now,” Bachchan said.
