Nobel laureate Toni Morrison has a new novel coming next spring.

God Help the Child will be released on April 30, publisher Alfred A. Knopf announced on December 2. It’s the 11th novel by Morrison, who turns 84 in February.

Knopf Doubleday chairman and editor-in-chief Sonny Mehta says God Help the Child is a contemporary story about the consequences of a student’s allegation against a teacher. The new book is a “compact, fierce work,” he says in a statement.

Morrison is known for such historical fiction as Beloved and Jazz.

Morrison’s most recent novel, Home, was set in the 1950s and told of a black Korean War veteran’s return to the US.
