Friday: How would you interpret the idiom ‘be an open book'?

Talli Roland: Don't hide behind clichés and overblown prose.

Friday: From book sales to movie franchise, Harry Potter has moved to ebook editions. Is this a natural progression?

Talli Roland: Yes, I believe so. I think more authors will be taking control of their rights and selling directly to the audience. Friday: ebooks are selling better than hardcovers these days. Do you think this signals the demise of printed books?

Talli Roland: No, ebooks are just a different way of reading. I believe new technology will help sell even more books.

Friday: Never judge a book by its cover: does this hold true for you?

Talli Roland: It doesn't, I admit it! I'm a sucker for pretty covers with glitter and embossing.

Friday: What is the worst genre that has been introduced? Why?

Talli Roland: Every genre has something to offer readers although all might not be to my taste. I'm not a big fan of horror.

Friday: What is your association with second-hand bookstores?

Talli Roland: When I buy a book, I want to support the author. Sadly, authors don't receive any royalties from second-hand bookstores.

Friday: Now we have a genre called Mum-lit, after Chick-lit. Your take?

Talli Roland: Bring it on! The more novels that women can relate to at any stage of their lives, the better.

Friday: If you could pick one author's reading to attend, who would it be?

Talli Roland: I'd choose Margaret Atwood because she's erudite and of course, because I love her novels.
