Abhay Deol’s father dies

Ajit Singh Deol, brother of veteran actor Dharmendra and father of actor Abhay Deol, died on Friday evening. The funeral was held on Saturday morning in Mumbai.

Dharmendra was seen in tears and with his hands folded at the funeral. His actor sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, and nephew Abhay were also present. Other celebrities such as Veeru Devgan, Anil Sharma, Anees Bazmee and Annu Kapoor also mourned Deol, who had been suffering from various ailments.

He was reportedly undergoing treatment for gall bladder complications. Abhay, Dharmendra and Sunny were by Deol’s bedside when he died.

Deol had acted in a number of Punjabi films, as well as a few Hindi films including the 1995 movie Barsaat with Bobby. He had even directed Meharbaani in 1982.
