A new look at Abu Dhabi’s landscape

Aldar Properties has collaborated with Greek visual artist Chronis Spanos for a unique artistic initiative titled Maraya.

Maraya, which means “mirrors” in Arabic, constitutes an aesthetic approach to various aspects of the urban geometry and skyline of Abu Dhabi.

Spanos re-conceptualises a variety of architectural styles and locations, with Aldar Properties constituting the inspirational source, and “kaleidoscopically” transforms their architectural axes, constructive details and iconic angles into unique pieces of abstract art.

Depicting qualitative features of the morphology of the buildings, the shapes and surfaces recompose and highlight the multiple layers of reality in the objects. Each final piece challenges perception and imagination, representing an artistic endeavour that refers to the unconscious of the viewer — the space of dream and myth. The finished images will be part of an art exhibition held at the Pearl Court, Yas Mall, from November 19 to 22.
