This summer, I wanted to do something that would be creative as well as environmentally friendly. Everyone is always talking about a better environment, and so I wanted to do something at a personal level.
I came up with the idea of converting used yoghurt containers into pots for plants and bird houses. First, I collected the empty containers and cleaned them thoroughly. Then, I painted them in different colours and decorated them in various art forms, like Indian tribal Warli painting, graffiti, henna and calligraphy designs. It was an educational process, and I had a lot of fun.
Then, with the help of my father, I mixed the right amount of soil needed for potted plants, flowering plants and ivy plants in them. I placed a few of them in the balcony and the rest around the house. The containers looked so colourful and I was so glad that I was able to use the containers that are usually discarded in an environmentally friendly way.
I hope more people my age get inspired by what I did and work towards a greener future and have fun whilst helping Mother Nature.
