Dubai: The Dulsco Ramadan Cricket T20 tournament got underway on Tuesday night with Carfare Cricket Club beating Dolphin AEN by nine wickets at Zabeel Park.

A total of 16 teams divided into four groups are battling it out for a spot in the August 18 final of the 11th edition of the tournament.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Dolphin AEN struggled in the face of some accurate bowling and sharp fielding from Carfare. The Dolphins’ Murtaza Mogul looked threatening until he was run-out for 22, while Hatim Patwa suffered a similar fate after hitting two sixes on his way to a run-a-ball 37. The Dolphins ended their innings with just 98 runs on the board.

Kaleem Burhan starred with the ball for Carfare, picking up two wickets for just 19 runs.

Set a modest 99 for victory, Burhan got things going with some big hitting, smashing five sixes before being dismissed for 32 off just 10 balls.

The rest of the Carfare batsmen knocked off the remaining runs with ease. Baber Sharif remained unbeaten, hitting four boundaries and two sixes in his 28-ball 38.

They chased down the runs down in the 12th over to complete a comprehensive win and get their campaign off to a winning start. Burhan was named man-of-the-match.
