Innjoo igniting the passion for new generation with Fire

Dubai: The Dubai-headquartered Chinese smartphone manufacturer — Innjoo — new smartphone — Fire — is a mid-range and affordable device with a neat design.

It has a shiny metallic edges but the back cover is made of textured polycarbonate.

The five-inch IPS LCD display is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with Mali-400MP graphics processor, coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity. Out of the 16GB, only 11.81GB is available for users.

The storage capacity can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The resolution of the display (960×540 pixels) at 240 dots per inch density is not that great to talk about. It is decent for the price factor but the images produced are clear and sharp in details.

The device is slightly on the heavier side at 163 grams but it is still handy.

The device runs on old KitKat version and not the latest Lollipop version.

Innjoo has tweaked the user interface — InnUI — a lot and it has its own web browser, app store, themes, cloud service and some useful features.

There are more than 2,200 apps in the InnStore app store and most of the apps are taken from the Google app store.

There is no app drawer and all the downloaded apps float on the home screens but there are ways to make folders and put the necessary apps in the desired folders.

The dual SIM phone supports only micro SIM cards and to insert the SIMs and the SD card, the back cover and the battery have to be removed.

The 5MP back camera with dual LED flash takes decent snaps in proper lit conditions but in dark conditions it suffers and the colours look washed out. As there is no optical image stabilisation, you need to keep your hands stable to take decent snaps.

With HDR on, it adds more details to the photos.

The app has got interesting features to capture multi angle view image, panorama, beauty face, consecutive shots and live photo.

It has also added different scene modes like auto, night, sunset, party, portrait, landscape, night, theatre, beach, snow, steady photo, fireworks, sports and candle light.

The 5MP front-facing camera has two modes — beauty face and normal mode. It is worth for taking selfies but only in bright light conditions. In less light conditions, the snaps looks washed out and grainy.

The videos taken with both the front and back cameras are decent when in better light conditions.

The loudspeaker at the back of the device produces decent sound and vibrates in full volume. It supports mp3, WAV, FLAC, eACC+ music formats and MPEG4, H. 263, H. 264, XviD video formats.

It has added some cool gesture features like double tap to wake up the device, drawing ‘o’ on the device will take you to gallery, gesture “c” to phone, gesture “e” to email, “w” to settings, “m” to music and “v” to messaging. It found it interesting as it can save time and no need to browse the apps.

Regarding connectivity, it has 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, WiFi Hotspot and microUSB 2.0.

It is not an ideal device for heavy gamers as the processor and the GPU does not allow graphic intensive games but good for casual gamers.

The 2,500mAh removeable battery gave more than six hours of video playback, which is pretty average and lasts more than a day for moderate users. It also has some battery power management to squeeze the battery life for one full day for heavy users.

The phone comes in four colours — classic black, fashion gold, milk white and natural bamboo — and is sold only on Souq.com to save some few bucks for the buyers.

Innjoo says the same device if sold through retail channel will cost Dh200 more. It is sold for Dh333. It is an ideal device as a second phone for budget users or as a gifting device.
