The newest member of the Samsung Note family is now in the UAE
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is now in the UAE and we’ve had our hands on the latest, and definitely greatest, in the Note series for just under a month now. Before we jump into what we love about the Note 9, let’s look at some specs shall we?
Samsung continues its streak of gorgeous screens on its devices with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED QHD display on the Note 9. The Note 9 comes with AKG-tuned stereo speakers. One is front-facing speaker mounted on the top and the other is a bottom-firing speaker. You still don’t need to worry about using the phone in the rain or if you spill something on it, since the Note 9 is IP68 water- and dust-resistant.
Performance remains a huge part of the Note approach. The Note 9 will come powered by the company’s own Exynos 9810 and supported by 6 or 8 GB of RAM. Storage will also vary. The 6GB RAM model will come with 128GB of storage and the 8GB RAM version will come with 512GB of storage. In this world of media consumption, where you’re a person who needs more than 512GB on your device, you can expand the storage via microSD to 1TB.
The rear camera on the Note 9 has a dual 12MP+12MP (f1.5-f/2.4 + f/2.4) with optical image stabilisation and the front has an 8MP camera.
The Note 9 also now supports the latest Giga LTE, which enables download speeds of up to 1.2GB per second. One of the best upgrades comes to the battery in the Note 9. The device will now come with a large 4,000mAh battery, which will easily take you through a full-day of power usage. The Samsung Note 9 will come preloaded with Android Oreo 8.1.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will come in four colours this year: Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Lavender Purple and Metallic Copper.
One of the things we love about the Note series is obviously the S-Pen but this year Samsung took that love a step further. Now that the S-Pen is a low-energy Bluetooth device with a super capacitor in it, we had way more control with it. We were able to use it for slides in our presentations, or use it as a remote for the camera and even control YouTube video playback from a distance.
This year Samsung added some nifty features to make the photography experience a great one on the Note 9. The camera now comes with intelligent scene recognition, which can recognise up to 20 scenes and enhances the pictures accordingly. There is also a feature called Flaw Detection, which can tell you as soon as a picture is taken if someone has blinked in the picture, if the lens is dirty or the image was backlit or blurred. HDR and Live Focus are also present to enhance the low-light photography experience.
Samsung ensured a great gaming experience on the Note 9 this year. Playing Fortnite and many other titles was a breeze. A water carbon cooling system has been added – similar to the one on the Samsung S9+ but with more storage space for more water to keep the device cooler. The phone also has on-device AI-based performance adjuster to close apps in the background in the scenario your phone is getting too hot. So you don’t have to worry if you’re going to push your device to the limits.
The new DeX experience on the Note 9 is just amazing. All you need is a HDMI to USB Type-C cable, et voila! A full desktop experience for your device and its apps on any display you have available to you.
