OpenAI’s AI video app Sora is generating buzz not only for its invite-only rollout but also for the launch of Sora 2, which brings major upgrades in audio, realism, and control. As demand surges, access codes have become a hot commodity, with some reportedly resold for $10–$45 despite OpenAI’s ban on unauthorized sales.

How users get codes

The most common way to secure a code is via the official OpenAI Discord server, where users share invites in real time. Twitter (X) is also a hotspot for code “drops,” though they expire quickly. Some claim to have found “permanent” codes, but most invites reach limits fast.

What’s new in Sora 2

The new version introduces:

  • Synchronized audio and dialogue: Sora 2 can now align voice, ambient sound, and effects with video frames, improving coherence and realism.

  • Improved physics and motion realism: Objects and characters move in more physically plausible ways, reducing visual glitches and boosting believability.

  • Better controllability & consistency: Sora 2 allows more precise direction over scenes and preserves continuity across cuts.

  • Cameo and identity tools: Users can optionally embed their own likeness into generated videos, if consent is given.

  • Safety, moderation, and watermarking: Sora 2 incorporates protections to manage misuse, including content filters and visible watermarking to flag AI-generated content.

Sora 2 is currently available as an invite-only iOS app in the U.S. and Canada, and future API access is expected.

Why it matters

Sora’s invite-only system helps OpenAI control growth, test infrastructure, and refine moderation tools. But it has also fueled a thriving resale market and user frustration. Despite these hurdles, Sora has already topped the Apple App Store charts within days of release.

OpenAI warns users not to buy codes from unauthorized sellers, stressing that doing so could violate its rules. For now, those hoping to try Sora must rely on official channels—or wait until access expands.
