URGENT CALL FOR PEACE IN GAZA: The UAE has urged an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict during a Security Council meeting. Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's ambassador to the UN, emphasised the pressing need for cessation amidst escalating violence. Triggered by an attack by Hamas on October 7 in which 1400 Israelis lost their lives, the ongoing conflict has resulted in over 8,300 Palestinian casualties, while in the occupied West Bank, more than 110 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, intensifying the urgent call for peace to prevent further human loss and growing hostilities. HEALTH PRECAUTIONS: The flu, especially concerning for children during the winter season, demands our attention. With their developing immune systems, young children are particularly vulnerable to influenza, an acute respiratory infection. The symptoms, including high fever, runny nose, cough, body aches, and fatigue, can be distressing. The risk of infection for children is amplified in schools and playgrounds, with some requiring hospitalisation and experiencing complications. Flu shots, especially for children, are strongly recommended. While not guaranteeing immunity, vaccines significantly reduce the severity of the illness, ensuring the safety of both children and others, say experts. The lessons learnt from the pandemic, such as practicing good hygiene and adhering to public health measures, remain valuable in preventing the flu's spread. As we approach the winter months, a surge in flu cases is anticipated, so vigilance and precautions are crucial. The season of flu is upon us, and we must be prepared. ROBERT DE NIRO IS ON TRIAL FOR BEING A MEAN BOSS? Hollywood legend Robert De Niro currently finds himself in a New York City courtroom, defending against allegations of being a demanding and harsh boss in a lawsuit filed by his former assistant, Graham Chase Robinson. The "Raging Bull" star vehemently denies these accusations, referring to them as "nonsense." Robinson, who served De Niro for over a decade, is seeking $12 million in damages, citing emotional distress and harm to her reputation. The courtroom proceedings are filled with high emotions, with De Niro's frustration clearly on display, and Robinson seeking a fair resolution. This trial serves as a reminder that public figures can't escape scrutiny when it comes to their treatment of employees. While it's impossible to pass judgment on the case at this point, it underscores the importance of accountability even for celebrities. (By Manjusha Radhakrishnan, Entertainment Editor)
