HEALTH PRECAUTIONS: The flu, especially concerning for children during the winter season, demands our attention. With their developing immune systems, young children are particularly vulnerable to influenza, an acute respiratory infection. The symptoms, including high fever, runny nose, cough, body aches, and fatigue, can be distressing. The risk of infection for children is amplified in schools and playgrounds, with some requiring hospitalisation and experiencing complications. Flu shots, especially for children, are strongly recommended. While not guaranteeing immunity, vaccines significantly reduce the severity of the illness, ensuring the safety of both children and others, say experts. The lessons learnt from the pandemic, such as practicing good hygiene and adhering to public health measures, remain valuable in preventing the flu's spread. As we approach the winter months, a surge in flu cases is anticipated, so vigilance and precautions are crucial. The season of flu is upon us, and we must be prepared.
