UAE STRIDES TOWARDS NET-ZERO TARGETS: UAE’s largest oil producer Adnoc is increasing its carbon-capture target to 10 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year by 2030, doubling its previous goal of 5 million tonnes. This is part of Adnoc’s strategy to achieve net-zero emissions from its operations by 2045. Adnoc recently unveiled its second carbon capture project, set to remove CO2 from the atmosphere at the Habshan natural gas processing facility and inject it into crude wells, enhancing oil recovery. With this project, Adnoc’s carbon capture capacity will reach 2.3 million tonnes per year. Adnoc is actively exploring additional sources of CO2 for capture, reuse, or long-term storage. This commitment to carbon reduction aligns with global efforts to combat climate change, and Adnoc is expected to discuss its climate initiatives at its annual oil conference, Adipec.
