PHISHING FRAUD: A widespread “phishing” fraud attempt has triggered an urgent public warning from the Dubai Police. The cautionary note was issued after suspicious emails appear to inform recipients that they have unpaid fines or service fees that must be paid right away. The emails purport to be from the Dubai Police. The fraudulent email contains a link that takes the receiver to a bogus website intended to steal their financial and personal information. Anyone who receives such an email has been warned not to click on any links or give any personal or financial information. This is a classic phishing scam. Residents and citizens are advised to be on guard against such cybercrime attempts, proceed with caution when interacting with them, to first confirm the legitimacy of any email, and immediately report them to authorities. ‘HUNTER’ HARMAN ENTERS THE BIG LEAGUE: Not many including those in the golfing circle would have known Brian Harman who landed the British Open at Hoylake on Sunday. The world No 26 wasn’t anywhere close in the favourties list coming into the major. This was his biggest prize so far in his career and a convincing and dominating win with none to catch him made it even more special. He won by six shots clear of the chasing pack. The American’s first major victory is a remarkable achievement given that he has won just twice on the PGA Tour - the John Deere Classic in 2014 and the Wells Fargo Championship three years later. His closest finish at a major was at 2017 US Open where he finished runners-up. Harman is also known for his love of hunting. The Georgia-born golfer said hunting had taught him "patience and strategy" for his sport. No doubt, he has been nicknamed the "Butcher of Hoylake" after his Open success. WILL CHRISTOPHER NOLAN DIRECT A JAMES BOND MOVIE? Fresh off the success of ‘Oppenheimer’, which is based on the architect of the atom bomb, Christopher Nolan made a comment that’s bound to raise eyebrows across Hollywood. The director, known for his cerebral entertainers that’s often open to multiple interpretations, said he’d love to direct a James Bond movie. His comments may have come at the right time. Following Daniel Craig’s swansong in ‘No Time To Die’ — which sees him dying — the spy actioner’s producers are looking for a reboot. And who better than Nolan, he who breathed new life into The Batman through the ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy? Well, nothing is concrete now, but who doesn’t love a little speculation? At least, Nolan seems to have thrown his hat into the ring. (By Rajagopalan Venkataraman, Assistant Editor-Features)
