DANGERS OF UNDERAGE DRIVING WITHOUT LICENCE: Police have once again warned teenagers against driving without obtaining a driving licence. The warning comes after two Emirati teens, without DLs, lost their lives while three other sustained injuries in a horrific head-on collision between two vehicles. The accident, which was reported in Al Madam area of Sharjah Central Region at midnight, involved boys aged between 14 and 16. Although, the UAE Federal Traffic Law clearly states that driving without a licence can result in a prison sentence up to three months and/or a maximum fine of Dh5,000, a greater awareness campaign is needed to avoid these tragic accidents. Also, it is the responsibility of parents to watch their children closely and not to let them drive unless they obtain their DL. (By Ashfaq Ahmed, Senior Assistant Editor)
