FOR UAE INVESTORS, A CHANCE TO KEEP THEIR FUNDS CLOSE BY: The IPO pipeline in the UAE and Gulf keeps on gushing new options for investors to tuck into, the latest being the region’s biggest F&B operator, Americana Restaurants. The choices are indeed varied, with district cooling provider Empower set to list and the Dubai-based school operator Taaleem the other one figuring on the investor radar. More choices, more depth for UAE’s stock markets gives ample cover for investors here. As more global economies talk about recession, it is also a chance for investors to keep their funds closer home. And they may be better for it. (By Manoj Nair, Business Editor)

RONALDO SAYS HE FEELS BETRAYED BY MANCHESTER UNITED: Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has said he feels betrayed by Manchester United and that he is being forced out of the English Premier League club. The former Real Madrid striker said he would give his version of life at Old Trafford back in August and now he has broken his silence in a wide-ranging interview with Piers Morgan which is set to air on TV this week. He said United’s hierarchy were trying to force him out of the club and that he has lost respect for coach Erik Ten Hag. “I don't have respect for him because he doesn't show respect for me. I feel betrayed and I felt like some people don't want me here, not only this year but last year too,” said the 37-year-old. It seems clear now that Ronaldo has played his last game for the team and will be moving on in the January transfer window, but the big question is where he will go. Bayern Munich have been linked and this would make sense as Ronaldo has played everywhere in Europe apart for Germany’s Bundesliga and so he could move there. SANIA MIRZA AND SHOAIB MALIK THROW A GOOGLY? We can never blame celebrity sports couple Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik for not being enterprising enough. Days after rumours swirled that the cross-cultural pair is heading for splitsville, news has emerged that the glamorous pair will be hosting a reality show called ‘The Mirza Malik Show’ on a web streaming platform. The poster of their new reality series shows Sania hanging out with Shoaib with the Burj Khalifa in the background and they seem genuinely happy. While we are thrilled about this, a large section of their fans on social media isn’t impressed. They blasted them for stooping to such cheap publicity gimmicks to promote their new show. But here’s the deal: you will never know the dynamics of a marriage unless you are in it. Perhaps, we should just let them be and figure things out instead of jumping the gun.
