GAZA EVACUATION COULD DEEPEN CRISIS: Israel’s directive, urging Palestinians north of Wadi Gaza to evacuate to the southern part of the Gaza Strip, has raised alarm within the United Nations due to the inevitable "devastating humanitarian consequences" of such a mass displacement, with over 1 million Palestinians at risk. The move potentially signals an impending Israeli ground operation amid ongoing conflict with Hamas. While the IDF claims the intention is to protect civilians, the situation in Gaza has already led to the loss of thousands of lives and the displacement of hundreds of thousands. Already more than 2400 people have been killed on both sides. Diplomatic intervention and peace efforts are urgently needed to prevent a deepening humanitarian crisis in the region. DUBAI MARINA REMAINS A PREFERRED LOCATION: DUBAI The recent sale of Dubai's illustrious 'Pentominium' tower has captured significant attention, as 46 offers were presented. This venture was conceived during Dubai's initial property upsurge, with plans for an exclusive all-penthouse development. Nevertheless, it remains unfinished, currently at only 22.34 per cent completion. The lively auction activity indicates a strong desire to revive and bring the project to fruition, especially among seasoned developer-investors in Dubai Marina. Dubai Marina remains a favored location for real estate investments, with average apartment prices now standing at Dh2.85 million, surpassing the pre-pandemic average of Dh1.85 million. While substantial financing is necessary, the future owner can expect substantial profits. (By Nivetha Dayanand, Web Editor)

AUSTRALIA STILL SEARCHING FOR WINNING FORMULA: For the past couple of decades, Australian cricket has enjoyed an era of dominance, succeeding the West Indies. They've excelled in One-Day Internationals, clinching the World Cup title five times. Despite their last 50-over World Cup win in 2015, they've maintained their reputation as a formidable force. However, their recent two defeats in the World Cup in India, where they failed to cross the 200-run mark on different pitches, raise significant doubts about their abilities. While it's not time for Australia to panic in this extended tournament, these losses to top contenders only bolster their rivals' positions, leaving them reliant on other match outcomes. The Australians must swiftly rediscover a winning formula to regain their confidence, whatever the future holds. (By A.K.S. SATISH, Sports Editor)

NO END IN SIGHT FOR HOLLYWOOD STRIKES? Any glimmer of hope for a swift resolution to the three-month-long actor strike was unceremoniously dashed this week as negotiations between performers and studios hit a bitter impasse, abruptly breaking off. The actors' union alleges the studios employed "bullying tactics" and refused to meet them halfway. According to AP, the actors are striking over issues ranging from increased pay for streaming programming to asserting control over the use of their images generated by artificial intelligence. While late-night shows have made a comeback, the filming of hit series like 'Grey’s Anatomy' and eagerly anticipated movies such as 'Deadpool 3' has ground to a halt. Unless studios and the dissenting actors concoct a solution, this deadlock threatens to cast a substantial shadow over Hollywood. (By Manjusha Radhakrishnan, Entertainment Editor)
