As talented artistes stage vibrant performances, there’s a new ring to the Metro stations. Already a showcase of the bustling metropolis that Dubai is, the stations are now reflecting the creative fabric of the city, thanks to the music fest. CHELSEA PUT OFF-FIELD ISSUE BEHIND THEM TO REACH CHAMPONS LEAGUE LAST NIGHT: Despite the off-field uncertainty surrounding English Premier League giants Chelsea, they managed to put that aside and secure their place in the Champions League quarterfinals. The current champions of Europe are in an extraordinary situation caused by sanctions placed on their owner Roman Abramovich. He has had all of his assets frozen by the UK government due to his strong ties with Russian president Vladimir Putin. The club have had to obtain a special license to allow them to play their remaining fixtures of the season but they are unable to buy, loan or sell their players until further notice. The club shop has also been shut down and the fans are suffering too as ticket sales for matches have been suspended until further notice. Yet in spite all of these issues, Thomas Tuchel’s Blues powered their way past Lille last night 2-1 to secure a 4-1 aggregate win. They are in tomorrow’s draw and with five consecutive wins in all competitions everyone will want to avoid the Londoners when they are on this kind of form in the last eight. STOP WITH THE BULLYING KANYE: Bullying is never acceptable, under any circumstances. Kanye West’s 24 hours suspension on Instagram for hate speech targeting Pete Davidson and now, Trevor Noah, was, frankly, a long time coming. Just ask Kim Kardashian, West’s ex-wife and the mother of his four children, who has long been subjected to public humiliation and bullying on the photo-sharing platform ever since she chose to separate from her husband. Things only heated up further when Kardashian started dating Davidson a few months ago. In his most recent bullying tactic, West let loose another tirade against the couple, saying he was ‘really concerned’ Davidson would get Kardashian ‘hooked on drugs’. He also went after Noah when the talk show host weighed in on West’s repeated outbursts on an episode of ‘The Daily Show’, warning that the online fight between the former couple could get violent and was ‘terrifying to watch’. In response, West posted images of Noah on his Instagram with a caption that used a racial slur, which ultimately saw the rapper’s account suspended for 24 hours.
