WARM WINTER-AN EXEMPLARY HUMANITARIAN OUTREACH BY UAE: The World’s Coolest Winter campaign, which celebrates the UAE’s most beautiful tourism destinations, is offering humanitarian support to more than 100,000 refugees and needy people through the Warm Winter initiative. The campaign aims to raise more than $10 million (Dh36.78 million) to provide food, clothing and other critical assistance to help displaced people in the harsh winter months. For a country that has always been at the forefront in offering help to the needy and the underprivileged all over the globe, the World’s Coolest Winter campaign comprises a heart-warming effort at making sure that no one among this target-group of 100,000 refugees goes to bed hungry or is left shivering in the cold winter night without access to decent warm clothing. The UAE, under its visionary leadership, has always been an epitome of compassion, tolerance, peace and happiness in the global community of nations. DEAN ELGAR: PUTTING HIS HAND UP AS SOUTH AFRICA CAPTAIN: Dean Elgar, the South African Test captain, is no AB de Villiers – nor even a Quinton de Kock. He is someone who, however, makes it up with his dogged approach in the middle as his marathon innings of unbeaten 96 to help the hosts square the Test series against India will go down as one of the best batting efforts in a winning cause for his country. At a time when it has almost become a par for the course to quit the longer format for familial obligations, the 34-year-old Elgar seems to have enormous pride in leading his country – and that’s what South African cricket needs now.
