LET'S HEED ABU DHABAI'S CALL FOR ROAD SAFETY: A moment of distraction or complacency on the road can have serious consequences, as the latest video of a traffic accident shared by Abu Dhabi Police shows. The short clip on the police’s social media channels shows a SUV stopping in the middle of a four-lane road after some material falls out from under vehicle. Soon enough a van smashes into the SUV, setting off a chain of other crashes. We should only pull over at the nearest exit or at least on hard shoulder by the side of the road if necessary. Let’s save lives by using these regular posts by police to become more responsible road users. [COMMENT BY: Faisal Masudi, Assistant Editor]

A WELCOME GESTURE BY SAUDI ARABIA: The Saudi-led coalition said last month it would release 163 prisoners from Yemen’s Al Houthi militia who fought against the kingdom. And the Saudis are keeping their promise as a gesture of peace by freeing Al Houthis, part of kingdom’s efforts to end the seven-year war. Three planes carrying 117 Yemeni prisoners held by the coalition landed on Friday in the southern port city of Aden. In late March, the Houthis said they had agreed to a prisoner swap that would see 1,400 of their men freed in exchange for 823 pro-government fighters. Now it’s time for Al Houthis to act on their promise. A two-month truce announced on April 1 is mostly holding. This is the time for the international community to push peace efforts and ensure that Al Houthis do not go back on their promises, putting lives of millions of their own people at risk. LIVERPOOL HAVE CHANCE TO GO TOP OF THE TABLE: Liverpool face Tottenham later tonight in the Premier League on the back of another great week. Their Champions League tie against Villarreal may have seen them initially struggle in the first half but they came good in the second period. It was a superhuman effort by the Spanish side but they were not going to be able to keep that up for the full 90 minutes and the Reds eventually cruised to the final. Jurgen Klopp’s side will be in confident mood under the Anfield lights tonight and can leapfrog Man City at the top of the table but Spurs will make life difficult. Antonio Conte has got the team playing really well and they are pushing Arsenal for the last Champions League spot. It will be a fascinating encounter but with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diego Jota in attack, Liverpool should prove too strong. [COMMENT BY: Imran Malik, Assistant Sports Editor]

BOLLYWOOD LOVES THE UAE: This weekend in the country will see a few Bollywood-related events — actors Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan are here for a football match. Aaryan will also be promoting his upcoming movie ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’. Many Bollywood stars have visited the country over the years to even film their movies. It’s undoubtedly a great place to connect with a vast population of movie fans, while filmmakers also enjoy the robust infrastructure the country provides in terms of planning events.
