EXPO CITY DUBAI WILL BE BENCHMARK FOR FUTURE CITIES: If Expo 2020 Dubai was ‘the world’s greatest show’, the soon-to-launch Expo City Dubai is primed to be the world’s model city. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has summed up why the upcoming destination sets a new benchmark for future projects, describing it as “a city that represents the most beautiful ambitions of Dubai, Expo City Dubai will be an environmentally-friendly city, one friendly to families, to the economy, and to future generations”. Dubai has once again demonstrated that we must build the future, today. [COMMENT BY: Faisal Masudi, Assistant Editor]

WILLIAMS TO MAKE TENNIS COMEBACK AFTER 1 YEAR OUT: Serena Williams has not competed in professional tennis since being injured at Wimbledon last year but the 40-year-old will be making her comeback today when she plays in the Eastbourne doubles. The American has won 23 singles and 14 women’s doubles titles at Grand Slam events and will want to add to this to draw level with Australian Margaret Court’s record 24 Grand Slam singles victories. She is due to play with Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur and the pair are set to face Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic on centre court. No doubt Williams – who has been given a wildcard for the All England Club tournament which starts next week – will get a huge reception from fans as she continues to fight her way back to fitness. STARS AND THEIR LOVE AFFAIR WITH YOGA: As the world marks the International Day of Yoga, one can’t help but credit celebrities such as Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shilpa Shetty Kundra for taking this ancient physical, mental, and spiritual practice and going mainstream with it. Kapoor Khan made it cool to attempt 100 Sun Salutations in one sitting, while the secret to Shetty Kundra’s fitness can be credited to her love for the asanas. As the world continues to run at breakneck speed, it’s time we remember that hitting pause and channeling your inner peace in the midst of a Vrikshasana or a Tree Pose position only benefits us in the long run.[COMMENT BY: Bindu Rai, Entertainment Editor]
