Capturing women at their best in Dubai: The UAE Gender Balance Council’s UAE’s Women Face Print exhibition, which is underway at Expo 2020 Dubai, is a powerful narrative on women. Each of the 30 unique photographs being featured for two weeks speaks out volumes about the selfless love, beauty and resilience of women – be they daughters, sisters, wives or mothers. It also reflects the vision and mission of the UAE’s leadership in doing all they can to ensure women empowerment and equality. The exhibition at the UAE Pavilion is a must visit. Jadeja inspires India in first Test against Sri Lanka: India thrashed Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs on the third day of the first Test in Mohali and although it was Rohit Sharma’s first match as Test captain the plaudits go to Ravindra Jadeja for his superb all-round performance with the bat and the ball. Not only did he score an unbeaten 175 runs but he also picked up 4 wickets for 46 and added to the 5 from the first innings he took 9 altogether in a brilliant display while Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed 4 to become India’s second leading Test wicket-taker behind Anil Kumble. Sri Lanka are no longer the swashbuckling team of the 90’s and it was always going to be an uphill struggle for them chasing India’s huge 574 first innings total. Bowled out for 174, India enforced the follow on and the tourists never looked likely to come back into it. They will need to improve for the second Test on March 12-16 in Bangalore otherwise it could be another embarrassing defeat. [By Imran Malik, Assistant Sports Editor]

Superhero films are the savior of cinemas: Seeing ‘The Batman’ take flight at theatres across the globe is a reassuring sentiment that the business of cinemas is on track to return pre-pandemic levels, buoyed by the latest DC adventure that comes months after Marvel pulled off a similar feat with ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in December. The Robert Pattinson-led dark thriller – which has earned a global total of $248.5 million on its opening weekend – is perhaps one of the finest superhero films ever made, warranting a big screen adventure that no streaming platform could replicate.
