THE DIGITAL SCHOOL INITIATIVE ENHANCES UAE’S ROLE AS INCUBATOR: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday inaugurated the first operational phase of The Digital School in Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Mauritania and Colombia as part of The Digital School campaign. The Digital School programme aims to train 500 teachers, establish 120 learning centres and provide world-class academic content in Arabic, French and Spanish. In the first year, more than 20,000 students will be enrolled, with the aim to increase the number of students to one million in the next five years. This new initiative is yet another instance of Dubai and the UAE’s commitment to digital learning and expanding the scope of digital education so that its benefits can be made available to maximum number of students – not just in UAE, but well beyond its borders. Whether it is health care, tourism, education or entertainment Dubai has always been a standard-bearer of innovation and cutting-edge technology. The Digital School initiative further strengthens Dubai’s role as a facilitator of holistic growth and learning and an incubator for innovation. [COMMENT BY: Sanjib Kumar Das, Assistant Editor]
