YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CEMENTS UAE’S FUTURE: On the eve of International Youth Day, it is worth reflecting on the prospects for the young population of the UAE, which is among the brightest in the world. The country’s leadership leaves no stone unturned to harness their potential and bring out the best in them, with a sharp focus on new ideas and innovations. The youth of today will shape the future and the sooner they get ready for the task, the better. Few countries pay as much importance to youth development as the UAE does. And the results are there for all to see. (By Sharmila Dhal, UAE Editor).

CARING FOR A WHALE, CARING FOR NATURE: WHEN an ailing beluga whale strayed into France's Seine river more than a week ago, it caught the attention of not just vets in the area but also people worldwide. After working overnight to rescue it, vets had to take the unfortunate decision to euthanise it. Most people stayed riveted to the rescue efforts, hoping the whale would swim back 3,000km after going through a harrowing period away from home. But it is heartening to know that mankind tried its best to save the whale. And as long as we care for nature and for each other, there is hope for all of us. REMAKES GALORE IN INDIA: The Indian movie industry loves remakes. In the past couple of years, a large number of movies have been remade or received the green light for it, mostly from one language to another. Mostly, it was a South Indian movie being remade in Hindi, such as ‘Drishyam’ and ‘Arjun Reddy’. Now, Alia Bhatt’s Hindi movie ‘Darlings’ will be made in Telugu and Tamil. It shows how previous insular industries are opening up to new themes and ideas, because audiences are hungry for good content. The lines that existed between languages and cultures are blurring.
