‘FIND YOUR PACE’ WHEN VISITING ABU DHABI. No visit to a destination is complete without experiencing its culture, history as well as latest attractions – and this is exactly what Abu Dhabi’s new tourism campaign offers. From UNESCO World Heritage sites to ultramodern theme park rides, the promotion invites visitors – and residents – to explore all the diverse offerings of the emirate. The point is to ‘Find Your Pace’ when you ‘Experience Abu Dhabi’. If we only view a destination through the lens of a particular season or specific attraction, we often lose out on its essence, its unique place in the world. (By Faisal Masudi, Assistant Editor)

HOLD THE LINE ON PRICES FOR UAE’S CONSUMERS: Heading into the final weeks of the year, consumers in the UAE will be up for some heavy action – and not just what they can expect once the FIFA World Cup matches start in earnest. It’s also the time for the many versions of the Black Friday promotions, and consumers will be well served by stability on prices where possible. Not least on essentials. The authorities will take a bleak view on any form of price gouging, whatever be the justification provided for the increase. In this regard, the moves by the likes of Carrefour to hold the line on prices on a range of products and categories delivers a clear message. More retailers should join in, because those statements will matter. More so now than at any time in the recent past. (By Manoj Nair, Business Editor)

RAFAEL NADAL IS UNDERCOOKED FOR WORLD TOUR FINALS: Paris has been Rafael Nadal’s favourite hunting ground, but the surface was different. Nadal is the King of Clay and enjoys playing at Roland Garros. But the Spaniard found himself on the wrong foot on the hardcourts of the Paris Masters. A different ball game. The 22-Grand Slam champion lost to American Tommy Paul in his first match on return, since losing the US Open fourth round in September. Not the right start for Nadal, who has not won the season-ending ATP Finals. The left-hander is now not sure if he will be in a good shape to mount a challenge in the November 13-20 event in Turin this year. Nadal, who has not spent enough time on the tour in the last five months, is still excited to play in the tournament. May be, less expectations will make the difference. (By A.K.S. SPREADING MESSAGE OF BODY POSITIVITY: Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has been candid about her struggles with being trolled and shamed due to her weight over the years. In her recent interview with Gulf News, she spoke about her new movie ‘Double XL’ and how she hopes to inspire women to be themselves no matter what they look like. It’s an important message to young men and women who, despite social progress in recent years, still face pressure to conform to beauty standards — whether it’s regarding looks and skin colour or body proportions. Celebrities can positively influence others through their words and actions. (By Jennifer Barretto, Assistant Editor – Entertainment)
