ANOTHER WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION FOR DUBAI: The identification of Dubai as the world’s cleanest city is indeed something that needs to be celebrated. It not only reflects the high level of hygiene that the authorities have ensured in public spaces through a series of measures, but also a culture of cleanliness that people coming from different backgrounds have imbibed over the years. This culture that has been fostered in residents and visitors from different countries is remarkable as rules that are laid out are strictly followed even as well-thought out systems and facilities are in place. The recognition that Dubai is the cleanest city is well-earned and deserving. [COMMENT BY: Sharmila Dhal, UAE Editor]

MAN CITY KEEP PRESSURE ON LEADERS ARSENAL: It is evident that Manchester City are not at their scintillating best this season and they needed to grind out a victory over struggling Crystal Palace last night. But that is what good teams do – they find a way to win even when they are not playing at their best. It is how titles are won. Coach Pep Guardiola will be delighted with the 1-0 win thanks to Erling Haaland’s late second-half penalty as it keeps the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal. City reduced the gap at the top to two points but that can grow to five if the Gunners beat Fulham today. With just 12 games left this fascinating title race is too close to call but it could well be decided when City and Arsenal clash next month. [COMMENT BY: Imran Malik, Assistant Sports Editor]

WHO DECIDES THE IDEAL DRESS SIZE? In a recent interaction, global icon and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra Jonas recalled an unpleasant episode that reduced her to tears. She was reportedly body-shamed for not being the ideal ‘sample-size’. For those who are not sewed in on fashion, a US size 2 or UK 6 is considered an ideal dress size among designers and stylists. But the 40-year-old does not have an impossibly slim waist, but to be casually reduced to her size is a perfect example of how body positivity is still a myth in entertainment industry circles. Jonas or any other woman shouldn’t be reduced to the sum of her body parts. When will our scathing fashion industry stop peddling these impossible body and beauty standards? If a seemingly confident woman like Chopra Jonas can be robbed off her self-confidence with casual ageist and sizist remarks, do ordinary women and men stand a chance?
