ELECTRIC TWO-WHEELERS ARE NOT ABOVE THE TRAFFIC LAW. There’s a growing variety of electric scooters and bikes in the market and as these micro-mobility means become more popular, it’s essential to follow road rules designed specifically for them. Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre has clarified that e-bikes with engines operating at 700 watts need a permit to ride. Also, a bicycle or scooter isn’t allowed on roads where the maximum speed limit exceeds 60km/h. Moreover, these transport means are not meant to carry a pillion rider. Riders should follow these traffic regulations for their own safety as well as that of other road users. [Comment By Faisal Masudi, Assistant Editor]

LUTON TOWN PROMOTED TO PREMIER LEAGUE: Luton Town have achieved an extraordinary feat by going from non-league to the Premier League after they triumphed over Coventry City with a 6-5 victory on penalties in the Championship play-off final at Wembley last night. Luton’s return to the top flight of English football comes 31 years after their previous appearance in 1992, coinciding with the establishment of the Premier League. Remarkably, just nine years ago, Luton languished in the fifth tier due to financial struggles. This achievement is a testament to their manager Rob Edwards, who initially led Forest Green to the League Two title a year ago. His strategic prowess has now brought about the completion of an awe-inspiring football journey, as Luton become the first team to navigate the full trajectory from the top division to non-league and back. "WOMEN DIRECTORS SHINE AT CANNES 2023: French director Justine Triet's win of the top prize, the Palme d'Or, for her tense murder trial drama 'Anatomy Of A Fall,' is symbolic of women dominating this year's Cannes Film Festival. For the first time ever, out of the 21 entries in the competition at Cannes this year, seven films with compelling female characters were directed by women. Let's also not forget that this Cannes belonged to German actress Sandra Hueller, who starred in the festival's two top films, 'Anatomy Of A Fall,' and the Holocaust drama 'The Zone Of Interest,' which won the runner-up Grand Prix. Triet and Hueller's accomplishments will go a long way in offsetting the criticism that Cannes has failed to include more women's voices at the forefront.
