Dubai: For this pilot, the passion for travelling and undertaking adventure sports played a decisive role in landing her dream job. 

To mark the occasion of UAE Civil Aviation Day, which fell on October 5, Shaikha Moza Bint Marwan Bin Mohammad Bin Hasher Al Maktoum took viewers on a special trip down memory lane.

Shaikha Moza joined Dubai’s national carrier in 2015 as a cadet pilot and now, has landed the title as First Officer for a Boeing 777.

Emirates recently posted the online video clip, accompanied with the caption: “Shaikha Moza Al Maktoum from the UAE shares her journey on what made her become an Emirates pilot.  Happy UAE Civil Aviation Day from all of us at Emirates.”

“I always loved travelling and adventure sports since I was a child. Becoming a pilot was my biggest dream,” said Shaikha Moza, as she was getting ready for take-off.

“I’m grateful to all the leaders of the UAE for all the opportunities they created for the future pilots of our nation. I get to fly all around the world and it is a proud moment when I see the UAE from the flight deck and then get to land back in Dubai,” she said. 

“I think you must always follow your dreams, and have the patience and persistence to turn it into a reality. Never give up on what you want.” 

To celebrate Civil Aviation Day, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman and CEO of Emirates airline, took to Twitter to thank UAE leaders in the key part they played in developing the country’s industry. 

“The vision of our leaders has made a major industry player and we continue to collectively build our competitive edge. I'm confident our aviation sector will continue to leave a lasting mark benefiting UAE’s future generations,” said Shaikh Ahmad.
