Dubai: Union Coop will distribute 370 iftar meals daily throughout Ramadan as part of an initiative launched to mark the Year of Zayed.

The ‘Khair Zayed’ initiative will see meals distributed to employees of various government entities and a UAE hospital.

Union Coop also announced sponsoring and supporting three other initiatives during Ramadan, which aims to provide suhoor and iftar meals for 32,000 people, said Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department.

“This Year of Zayed we will ensure that the founding father’s vision of a good valued nation based on a happy community is fulfilled. Union Coop works in a systematic manner when it comes to corporate social responsibility initiatives so that we benefit maximum number of individuals in the community,” he said.

He added that Union Coop dedicates the Khair Zayed initiative to the memory of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.

“The meals will be distributed to the staff of Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Police General Command, Dubai Civil Defence, General Department of Protective Security & Emergency, Al Amal Hospital and Al Sahaba Centre for Memorisation of Quran,” he said.

The Union Coop has allocated Dh75 million for reducing prices of about 15,000 items during Ramadan.
