Dubai: A British man is under questioning after allegedly flashing his middle finger at another driver during a road rage incident, Dubai Police said on Friday.

The Briton, identified as J.A., made the rude gesture to the Asian motorist while driving a rented car on Al Khail Road in Dubai in February.

“He made the gesture to a man identified as A.G., who was accompanied by his wife and children in their car. The Asian lodged a complaint with the police but the British man had left the country after the incident. On September 10, the British man, a tourist, returned to Dubai and was arrested,” Dubai Police said.

He was arrested at the Dubai International Airport and the Asian summoned to reach a settlement with the former but all attempts failed as the Asian insisted he would go all the way with his complaint.

“He considers the gesture as an insult in front of his wife and children and the complaint was referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution to conclude the investigation,” police said.

Dubai Police stressed that all residents, visitors and Emiratis are equal before the law.
