Dubai: Fifty-one-year-old G. Lubbe has been buying raffle tickets for about two years now, and the wheel of fortune has finally turned his way.
The raffle ticket buyer from Johannesburg is the latest winner of the $1 million top prize in Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion.
His luck came after he purchased a ticket online bearing the lucky numbers 2166 last May 10.
“I have always hoped to win and I am thankful for this opportunity given by Dubai Duty Free, and for my lucky numbers that brought me this great fortune,” Lubbe told organisers of the draw.

The South African has his own IT business and works for a company in the commodities and natural resources sectors.
He is the fourth South African to win the Dubai Duty Free jackpot since the raffle started in 1999.
