Dubai: The abras in Dubai Creek is the best way to get across the city as you not only beat the traffic snarls, but get a glorious view as well.
The abras are run by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, which takes passengers to and from Bur Dubai to Deira’s Old Souq, as well as between the Old Souq and the Al Sabhkha Abra Station.
One RTA driver, Mubasher, was pleasantly surprised to carry a VIP passenger on board his boat, when he saw Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
In true Faz3 style, the Crown Prince posted a short video clip of Mubasher, as he thanked him for the abra ride.
Abra comes from the Arabic verb “abara” which means to cross, and for centuries, remained one of Dubai’s most frequented modes of transport, making it the symbol of the city’s history and heritage.
The stunning view was also shared on Shaikh Hamdan’s Instagram Stories, which showed a time lapse of the abras back and forth in one of Dubai’s oldest neighbourhoods.
