Dubai: An Indian national got lucky after buying a millionaire raffle ticket for the first time in Dubai.

Prabin Thomas, a 40-year-old businessman who sells IT products in Kerala, woke up $1 million richer on Tuesday. The first and only ticket he bought online from Dubai Duty Free (DDF), bearing numbers  0471, was drawn at Dubai International Airport.

Thomas isn’t a stranger to lotteries. In fact, he has purchased tickets in India but he has never won anything before — until he decided to try his luck with DDF’s Millennium Millionaire promotion.

When asked what he intends to do with his fortune, he said he will expand his networking business and consider starting a small software company.

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, one more winner was announced, and this time, it's for the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise promotion.

Afzaan Jilla, a 33-year-old Indian national based in Dubai, will be driving home a luxury motorbike - a BMW R Nine T Urban GS.

The expat who works as an administrator bagged the reward with ticket number 0730.  He is a self-confessed biker, which is the main reason why he only buys tickets for the Finest Surprise motorbike draw for over six years now.

“I’m so happy, really I almost gave up after trying for the longest time. Winning today has restored my faith in the raffle draw.”
