Dubai: Last Saturday, a taxi driver employed by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) acted in the true spirit of Ramadan to help a stranded motorist.

Raheem Abdul Haq, a 38-year-old Bangladeshi, came to the aid of a Sudanese woman whose car broke down in Dubai Internet City at around 11pm.

The driver, who has worked in Dubai for nine years, drove for two hours looking for assistance.

The woman had earlier taken the metro to a nearby shopping centre for iftar, but when she returned to her car, the vehicle refused to start.

She called a friend to help her jumpstart the car, but it did not work and the two women were left standing alone in the dark.

Abdul Haq, who happened to be in the area, also attempted to jumpstart the car, but failed.

He then took it upon himself to contact an auto repair shop to fix the car, a transport company to drive the women back home to Ajman, and also followed up on the car’s repairs.
