Dubai: The winners of one of the most-coveted draws in the UAE has just been announced and the jackpot went to another expatriate in the Gulf.

Organisers of the Big Ticket in Abu Dhabi confirmed on Sunday that Sashi Ramamurthy will be taking home Dh7 million.

The Indian national was in shock when he heard the news, citing that he wasn't expecting to get lucky this time.

“I can’t express my feelings. Still I am in shock,” the winner said. Ramamurthy is a married expat working in Qatar.

He has been participating in Big Ticket draws for about five or six years now and usually buys ticket by himself.

For those whose luck remains elusive, he advised them to keep trying. “Don’t lose hope. Everyone has a day. I wish every Big Ticket buyer all the very best.”

Seven other draw participants also won for themselves Dh100,000 each.

The Big Ticket draw is now on its 185th edition. The winners who will each receive Dh100,000 are Suman De, Mohd Shafi, Vinod Kumar Veloor Maloor, Rajasekar Jeyaraj and Azeez Moolamkunnan – all from India - and Emadd Hamdi and Abdullahi Dooyow from Egypt and Somalia, respectively.
