Dubai: Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has donated Dh850,000 to health care sector in Dubai.
The AMAF donated Dh400,000 to the Ministry of Health and Prevention and Dh450,000 to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) as part of its special initiative ‘Shifa’a’ (healing) and in line with its calendar of activities for the Year of Zayed.
The amount donated to the Ministry of Health and Prevention will go towards the purchase of advanced medical equipment to serve a wide range of patient needs, especially in diagnosis and radiography. As for the donation to DHA, the amount has been allocated for the Cancer Patient Fund, which helps financially troubled patients to cover the treatment costs.
Ali Al Mutawa, secretary general of AMAF, said: “The Foundation’s contribution to preserving the health and well-being of individuals and society is aligned with our mission to consolidate the goals of takaful waqf for the benefit of wider segments of society. It also conforms to one of the key pillars of Dubai Plan 2021 that seeks to drive economic and social development within a healthy and sustainable environment that offers outstanding health services.”
Al Mutawa reiterated the importance of cooperation among various institutions towards improving patient health care and ensuring accessibility, in keeping with the legacy of the founding father of the UAE, Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Commending the achievements of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Dubai Health Authority in raising the quality of health care and associated services, he said this commitment to excellence has helped the UAE rank high in happiness and human development, and contributed to the establishment of a secure society.
