In the past decade since the launch of the Octo Finissimo collection, Bulgari set a staggering seven world records in watchmaking. And now with its newest Octo Finissimo Ultra watch, the brand has revealed yet another world record-beating timepiece. The Octo Finissimo Ultra watch is the thinnest mechanical watch in the world, measuring in at a mere 1.8mm in thickness. Stunningly, the dimension includes the entire case and not just the movement.

Not only is the watch a celebration of the much-vaunted range, it also features an embedded QR code that gives the owner access to an exclusive NFT artwork. Fittingly, only 10 of these ultra-rare watches will be available and is the final model in the Octo Finissimo World Record range.

Three years in the making, the Octo Finissimo Ultra beats the Piaget Ultra-Thin watch and was built from a clean-sheet design to achieve the lofty goal.

Created by Bulgari’s in-house watchmaking team in collaboration with specialists Concepto, the watch’s aforementioned QR code, which is laser-etched, also allows the buyers to discover the development process of the watch.

Expectedly, achieving the thinnest manual-wind movement wasn’t a simple task. The entirety of the 170 components that comprise the movement are integrated into the caliber and offer up to 50 hours of power reserve, while measuring a meagre 1.50 mm in height. Additionally, in order to conserve space, several components serve multiple purposes.

The watch, which has several patents filed, measures just 40mm in diameter and is finished in an elegant grey / silver octagonal case. It also has a brand new titanium bracelet that was especially developed for the watch and is equally thin.
