Belgian watchmaker Ressence, in collaboration with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the UAE’s leading retailer of luxury watches and jewellery, has announced a limited edition timepiece to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UAE.

The Type 1 Slim DX2 is a limited edition of the Type 1 Slim and only 25 pieces of the watch will be available.

The timepiece draws inspiration from Arabic geometric patterns, while its elegant design creates an interplay of light reflections and depths for a mesmerising look. The mechanical watch is engraved with diamond burs, giving it the sparkle of a diamond.

In a nod to the UAE, the dial is sand colour, and the watch remains true to the functions and movement of the Type 1 Slim, which it’s based on. The design is markedly different from the rest of the collection and is encased in polished Grade 5 titanium.

The patented Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS), which is exclusive to the brand, features discs that orbit around one another. It also received a different surface treatment. The hands and indexes are white and filled with Superluminova.

The limited edition Type 1 Slim DX2 is manually set via a lever on its case back and has no crown -- the winding and setting mechanism being the caseback.

It truly encapsulates the collaboration between Ressence and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, with a design concept that was worked on closely with Benoît and the whole team to achieve this masterpiece.”

The watch is self-winding and boasts a 36-hours power reserve, while the mechanism features 212 components.

The limited edition Ressence Type 1 Slim DX2 costs approximately Dh 88,000 before taxes.
