The final day of Paris Fashion Week saw several brands and labels such as Nehera, Petar Petrov Who and Xuly Bet showcase their Fall/Winter collections. However, the definite highlights of the closing day were Chanel and Miu Miu.

Starting with Chanel, the House paid tribute to the iconic tweed suit. From dresses to jackets to suits, the brand used the pattern to great effect – it evoked a sense of familiarity and was a nod to the brand’s legacy.

Designer Virginie Viard drew inspiration from Coco Chanel, who famously found the raw beauty of the Scottish countryside as a source of inspiration for her designs.

While the brand has had several eccentric moments over the years, the Fall/Winter 2022 collection is an exercise in restraint and doubles down on understated elegance. That said, there was a clear move towards a touch more edginess with prominent double-C logos smattered proudly across the collection.

Miu Miu, meanwhile, provided the perfect ending to the event with a stunning collection that was perhaps only matched by Balenciaga, when it comes to impactful silhouettes. As we expected, oversized jackets and suits were the order of the day. These were punctuated by lingerie or skirts.

The overall theme was a lot more sporty than most foresaw, but then, that seems to be the running theme this season. Miu Miu also employed new materials this season with its leather apparel, striking boots, contrasted by gorgeous, glittering crystal dresses.

Overall, there were several highpoints of this year’s Paris Fashion Week. From Balenciaga’s chill-inducing snow-dome themed runway show to Louis Vuitton’s ode to the colour pink; there was plenty of evidence that the fashion industry post the pandemic has made a comeback with a renewed vigour.
