What started out as a nascent idea by founder Natalie Massenet, an American-born former fashion journalist, has now transformed into an online fashion juggernaut. The former Tatler journalist came up with the idea of a fashion magazine in website format, which had transactional abilities – visitors could buy the products they adored in the glamorous fashion shoots. The idea was met with substantial resistance from the market initially, and they had to convince labels to sell their wares online – this was in early 2000s.
Now, Net-a-Porter is a company that boasts revenue in excess of $2.0 billion. From trying to convince brands to sell their products through the website, the company’s spin-off product Mr Porter is now offering bespoke high-end fashion jewellery.
From a range of agender curated selection of rings, necklaces, bracelets and anklets from global jewellery brands, each product celebrates elements of symbolism, craft, modernity and expressionism.
Launched recently, the Fine Jewellery Campaign will showcase 14 brands, including 12 fully exclusive pieces from Elhanati, Suzanne Kalan, MAOR, Shaun Leane, Duffy Jewellery and LAUD, which are exclusive to Mr Porter.
However, there’s more -- brand new designs from LA-based Jacquie Aiche and HOORSENBUHS are now available, too. In keeping with the exclusivity aspect, both brands focused on handcrafted techniques. Furthermore, visitors can also choose designs from Repossi, an Italian jewellery house that offers timeless, avant-garde pieces.
All these products have an imaginative design vision behind them. Jacquie Aiche, for instance, creates modern-day talismans meant to empower and inspire. Crafted from 14-Karat Gold, Opal, Enamel and Diamond these showcase a vibrant opal solar system.
“We are delighted to launch our growing Fine Jewellery offering and campaign on Mr Porter. We champion a diverse range of jewellery brands that specialise in beautifully handcrafted pieces. We have launched over 20 new brands this year, which deliver for the huge surge in men’s jewellery market, across our key regions,” said Mr Maxim De Turckheim, Senior Buyer – Luxury Watches and Jewellery, Mr Porter.
