Chanel recently opened the exhibition Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto on December 2, 2021. The event will be live until April 25, 2022 at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia.

An ode to the work of Gabrielle Chanel, the exhibition premiered at Palais Galliera Fashion Museum of the City of Paris in 2020. Australia is the second stop for this event that celebrates the birth, as well as the evolution of her design journey.

The exhibition showcases her work, along with the emergence of her codes and her contribution to the fashion industry at large.

There are more than 250 pieces on display, drawn from the Patrimoine de CHANEL, the Palais Galliera, the National Gallery of Victoria collection and several international museums. These date from as far back as the 1910’s to 1971 and shed renewed light on the work of a designer who left an indelible mark on women’s style.

Actor Tilda Swinton, who is an ambassador for the brand, was well as a close friend of the fashion house, provided the audio-guide for visitors and fashion connoisseurs to fully immerse themselves in the exhibition.

Another fashion house ambassador Phoebe Tonkin visited the exhibition along with Australian actresses Angourie Rice and Tilda Cobham-Hervey. Also in attendance were New-Zealand born actress Erana James and musicians Amy and Josh Dowdle. They were joined by singer Tash Wolf.
