Dubai:
Municipality worker Abdul Jalil Sadiq Ali was honoured by Dubai Police for helping in the arrest of a car thief.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, honoured Ali, who went out of his way to help police catch an Asian man who was trying to break into a car in Al Mamzar beach area.
Al Mazeina said public cooperation with Dubai Police helps maintain the security and safety of the community, as it helps in the fight against crime.
Dubai police is always keen on showing their appreciation to members of the public that cooperate with them.
Ali, who is from Bangladesh, was doing his rounds in Al Mamzar area, when he saw a man come out of a car and break the window of another car parked there. He took down the suspect’s car number and called the police. This helped the police identify the suspect and arrest him.
Lt. Col Adel Al Jokar, of Criminal Investigation Department, said after the arrest they found out that the suspect was also involved in similar incidents in the Bur Dubai area and other emirates.
