Dubai: A video about one of the female members from Dubai’s ruling family has become an internet sensation.
Social media users across the region were ecstatic to see Shaikha Moza Bint Marwan Bin Mohammad Bin Hasher Al Maktoum flying an Emirates aircraft to Italy, as she addressed passengers via the aircraft speaker.
The video clip, which was posted on Instagram by Shaikha Shamsa Bin Hasher Al Maktoum, received over 62,000 views in the first 12 hours.
Commenting on the video, a number of residents gave a round of applause to Shaikha Mozah for being a role model to women and for acting as a shining example of female empowerment.
One user, @snow.313, said that “we should all praise her hard work and effort that Shaikh Mozah has put into her career”.
In the video, which was filmed in the cockpit of the airplane, viewers can hear Shaikha Moza talking loud and clear over the microphone as she said: “Good morning ladies and gentleman, this is first officer Moza Al Maktoum speaking. We are currently cruising at an altitude of 35,000 feet and will be descending into Milan airport shortly.”
Shaikha Moza is the first female pilot of the Al Maktoum family, and carried out her first assisted flight as a commercial pilot in February 2017.
Since passing the skills test as a commercial pilot in April 2016, Shaikha Mozah has posted striking photos of the interesting cities she has visited while on duty as a pilot.
