Dubai: Dubai Cares’ Walk for Education will be held on February 6, featuring a symbolic three-kilometre walk to highlight the challenge children face in developing countries where they have to walk an average of three kilometres to school.
The Walk, taking place on a Friday, will start at Dubai Creek Park and move along Riyadh Road. Participants will gather at 8am at Gate 2 of the park, where Dubai Cares will also host a series of post-walk festivities inside the park for children and adults.
It will be the sixth edition of the event, which draws scores of residents in a show of support through Dubai Cares for disadvantaged children. The previous five editions have attracted volunteers, corporate entities, academic institutions, media, and government institutions.
The walk provides entertainment for adults and children and raises awareness in support of Dubai Cares programmes in 35 developing countries around the world.
The post-walk celebrations will be hosted by DJ Saif & Sound, and the entertainment line-up will include activities such as face painting, games arcade, bouncing castle, photo booth, performances by Dubai Police Band and Dubai Drums, and others.
The entry fee for taking part is Dh30. UAE residents interested in participating can register online at dubaicares.ae/walkforeducation.html or on-site on February 6, starting at 8am. The walk is free for children under five.

Through our Walk for Education, we want to contrast the educational amenities we benefit from in the developed world and the depleted resources in many developing countries that we have development programmes in.”
